While studying for his MA in Mass Communications at Syracuse University in 1968, Larry W. Hayes dreamed of becoming a publisher--some day.
After graduation in 1970, Larry and his wife Gloria moved to San Jose, California beginning his journalism career as a newspaper reporter for the San Jose Mercury News and then working as a marcom manager for several high tech companies including Memorex, Raychem and Ampex.
In 1983, Larry left the corporate world and launched his own marketing agency named Hayes Marketing Communications, Inc. His advertising and public relations firm helped launch dozens of successful startups including Linear Technology, Cadence and Palm.
This year ActiveOver50 is celebrating its 14th anniversary. What started out in 2005 as a 12 page printed newsletter has morphed into a 40+ page glossy magazine with local and national advertisers. Thanks to our readers and sponsors, ActiveOver50 media produces the #1 boomer and senior publication in the San Francisco Bay with over 200,000 readers in print and online.
So far, so good.
