Cover/profile: Howard Wood, 60, 2015 Goldman Environmental Prize Winner. Recreational diver and self-taught marine biologists from Scotland fights to save fish and marine life from extinction.

One person can make a difference.

Howard Wood witnessed a sharp decline in the local fisheries of Whiting Bay on the Isle of Arran on the west coast of Scotland. Commercial fisherman were catching and killing off fish and marine life using mile long fishing nets. The Scottish government did little to stop the destruction.
